Carpet Cleaning F.A.Q.'s
How long will it take to clean my carpets? On average, it will take approximately 20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on the amount of furniture to be moved, how dirty the carpet is and if it requires any special spot removal treatments.
Won't water ruin my carpets? Modern carpet technology is basically water resistant, and approximately 95% of the limited amount of water used in our cleaning process is removed. Most carpet manufactures recommend you use the hot water extraction method of cleaning, and in some cases your carpet warranty will be voided if using another process of cleaning.
How long do I have to wait after cleaning before letting my children or pets on the carpet? The carpet may be walked on with clean feet immediately after cleaning; however, we recommend limiting activity on the carpet to foot traffic until it's completely dry.
How long will it take for my carpets to dry? Drying time depends on humidity levels, air flow to the room(s) cleaned and the type of carpet. In general, air circulation and turning on your heating system will help speed up the process. While it typically takes between 6 to 10 hours to dry, you can walk on it as soon as we're finished. Just remember to remove street shoes first to avoid re-soiling. It's important to wait until carpets are totally dry (24 hours) before placing furniture back on them.
I've heard that cleaning my carpet will make it soil faster. Is this true? The rapid resoiling of carpet is usually caused from soap or oily powder residues being left in the carpet, which will attract dirt. The modern cleaning methods Kelly Carpet Cleaning uses rinses virtually all cleaning agents out of the carpet so it will not attract dirt.
Do I have to be home while my carpet is being cleaned? It's not necessary that you while cleaning is taking place as our technicians are thoroughly trained professionals you can trust. In order to provide the best possible service, we do recommend that someone is home before we begin cleaning so we can discuss any specific needs or areas of concern regarding the care and cleaning of your carpet.
The single biggest carpet myth out there is that carpets are bad for our health because of all the dust and allergens they hold. The truth is that carpets play a vital, positive role in indoor air quality. Carpets act as an environmental filter, trapping and holding impurities from the air we breathe. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the carpet industry findings indicate that with proper maintenance, carpet itself does not contribute negatively to indoor air quality.
